AWS Middle East
Global cloud infrastructure with regions in Bahrain and the UAE
Overview
AWS opened the first AWS Region in the Middle East, in Bahrain, in July 2019. A second region followed in the United Arab Emirates in 2022, bringing the operator’s physical footprint in the Gulf to two regions.
This local presence addresses a constraint that has become structural for businesses and public administrations in the region: the ability to process and retain data within defined national borders while still accessing the full catalog of cloud services.
The offering spans the full chain, from compute and storage to managed machine learning services and foundation models. AWS has also announced significant investment commitments in Saudi Arabia, where it plans a first region for December 2026.
